Cheer tryouts are coming soon, and it’s the perfect time for you veterans to dust off your old cheer shoes and get back in the game, and show some spirit for BSM! In line with this, we’ve compiled a list of 10 things all cheerleaders will understand.

  1. You can do your homework in this comfortable position.

  2. Your hair is permanently damaged by hairspray and glitter (and a lot of cheer bows!)

  3. You’ve spent a lot of money on bulk packs of bobby pins and Soffe shorts.

  4. You’ve definitely spent a lot of hours in the mirror working on your cheer facials.

  5. Your thoughts when you tried your first basket toss probably consisted of “Will they catch me?” and “Oh god, I’m going to die.”

And if you’re a back spotter, you lived in constant fear of the flyer breaking your nose.

  6. This is your facial expression every time someone tells you “Cheerleading isn’t a sport!”

  7. You literally stunt EVERYWHERE. Especially on the beach.

    Especially on the beach.

  8. You dream of competing in Daytona Beach for the NCA’s

And wearing this jacket one day.

  9. Yes, there are shoes for cheerleading, and it annoys you when people think they can just wear any pair of white shoes.

  10. You’ve gained an unbreakable bond of trust with your squad.

But I mean, when you’re throwing another human being 20 feet into the air and have them fall onto a 2 inch mat, you kind of have to.
