S-E-N-S-A-T-I-O-N-A-L! It is quite remarkable that a group of such young actors, who hardly knew each other 2 months prior to the musical, were able to carry out a performance in such a professional manner. Nevertheless, the cast of BSM’s rendition of ‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’, directed by none other than the great Paul Hannon, got an entire audience laughing their heads off.
Phenomenal performances from Stephanie Aquino, Andrew Holgate, Ella Brock, Nicola Thomson, Lance Sy Lato, Riana Lago, Miranda Doig-Henderson, Fred Mann, and Luc Edes enthralled the audience. But perhaps one of the most compelling and unique elements of the Spelling Bee was the participation of volunteer audience members. Even with some rough improvisation from the volunteers, the musical was highly entertaining and was executed smoothly, further displaying the cast members’ natural skill and talent.
On behalf of the BSM community, the members of Winston want to congratulate and give special mention to the entire cast, directors, band members, and production crew. We would also like to say a massive thank you to everyone else that sacrificed their time and effort to ensure that Spelling Bee turned out to be yet another successful school production. This musical comedy was nothing less than spectacular, and is definitely one for the books.
