Halloween is creeping around the corner and once again it’s time to wrack your brain about what to dress up as. A superhero, a witch, or one of Miley Cyrus’ absurd VMA outfits are all great options… for people who take the holiday seriously. But hey, if you’re like me and are only in it for the free candy, you’ll end up with a 5 minute costume that involves taping paper on your red shirt and calling yourself “Thing 1”. This article is dedicated to those people who really can’t be bothered with their Halloween costumes. Here are five outfits that are just decent enough to earn you a full bucket of candy.
1. An egg
Directions:
1. Grab an oversized white t-shirt from your closet
2. Trace a large circle on yellow construction paper.
3. Cut out your circle.
4. Stick the circle into the middle of your shirt using tape or super glue.
5. Finish your outfit with any type of pants and voila! Your costume is complete!
If you want to look more daring, and if you want to look like you put a little more effort into your costume, then costume 2 might be a better alternative for you.
2. Yellow M&M
Directions:
1. Follow steps 1-4 from the egg costume.
2. Cut out the letter “m” from a white piece of paper and your rad new costume is complete!
3. Minecraft Creeper
Directions:
If you would like to make the exact creeper design that you see in this picture, then watch this Youtube tutorial.
If you’re lazy, here are the steps to simplify your costume:
1. Find a cardboard box that is just large enough to fit your head.
2. Buy green spray paint (any shade of green will do).
3. Spray paint your entire box green.
4. Using a black marker, draw the creeper’s face (make sure the face is drawn in the right direction).
5. To complete your look, wear an all-black outfit and place your box on your head.
4. Fifty Shades of Grey
Lacking Jamie Dornan’s good looks? No problem! That shouldn’t stop you from dressing up as one of your favorite books.
Directions:
1. Go to your local hardware store and get paint swatches or print out several copies of a grey palette until you have 50 shades all together.
2. Find a grey shirt and stick your palettes using super glue or tape.
3. Wear a pair of grey or black pants and your outfit is complete!
5. Black Eyed Peas
If you’re looking for a lazy costume that you and your friend can share, then this costume might just do the job.
Directions:
1. Print out the letter “P” in the largest font possible.
2. Cut out the letter and stick it onto your white shirt.
3. Take some black eyeliner, marker, or face paint to draw a circle around your eye
4. Your outfits are now complete.
Although these costumes take literally 15 minutes to make, who’s to say that you’re missing out this Halloween? You’ll get the same amount of candy PLUS more attention because of how little effort you put into your costume. Some say less is more and these get-ups are definitely the LEAST effort you can put into your outfit to still be able to call it a “costume.”
