The best news that book fans could ever receive is that  favourite novel would be adapted either to the big-screen or television. The anticipation of it being released, filled with casting news and sneak peek photos, is always such a fun experience for us bookworms.  Although it was very difficult, we finally came up with a list of our all-time favourite book to movie/ TV adaptations:

Game of Thrones
With thousands of inspired memes and 9GAG jokes, it would be near impossible for anyone to not have heard of Game of Thrones. Whether you love it (like we do) or don’t particularly care about it, there’s no denying that this epic fantasy series adapted from the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin (a.k.a serial character killer) is one of the best shows on air today. Besides the dragons, amazing high budget battle scenes, and strong characters, what truly sets this series apart is the unpredictable storylines that leave readers and audiences praying that their favourite character make it to the end alive.

The Shannara Chronicles
The Shannara Chronicles is a recently broadcasted TV show based on Terry Brook’s epic fantasy novel The Elfstones of Shannara. This story follows heroes embarking on a journey across the Four Lands to stop a malicious demon army from destroying the universe. The world’s fate relies on an Elvin Princess Amberle, human Rover Eretria and half-elf Wil. Harry Potter
If you haven’t watched or read Harry Potter, then where have you been for the past decade! Harry Potter has left fans with visual splendor, heroic and irresistible characters, and spectacular special effects. The world JK Rowling created in her books has been beautifully recreated in all eight movies. The perfect cast also performs wonderfully in their portrayal of their characters. This series has definitely left families across the globe enjoying and praising the series.

The Hunger Games
This is the dystopian series that started it all. From the moment Katniss Everdeen screamed “I volunteer as tribute!”, we all fell in love with the strong, yet flawed and complex, female character that saved the reputation of the young adult genre after the Twilight explosion. Set in a futuristic world in which kids and teenagers are forced to fight to their deaths, the book would have evidently been difficult to transition into the big screen. However, thanks to the great acting performance and directors, the Hunger Games proved to be a box office hit!

The Fault in Our Stars
Adapted from his best-selling book, this heartfelt, tear-jerking contemporary romance is probably the reason John Green is rolling around in cash. If there’s anything Green is brilliant at, it’s his ability to bring fangirls everywhere down onto their knees, crying from a whirlwind of emotions. In the film, Hazel (Shailene Woodley) is a relatable girl-next-door suffering from thyroid cancer. When she meets the cute, floppy-haired Gus (Ansel Elgort) from her support group, they begin a love story that is coveted by teenage girls everywhere. This movie may even make the worst of cynics shed a tear.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Based on the fantasy adventure series written by C.S. Lewis, the first film in The Chronicles of Narnia depicts the story of the Pevensie siblings, Susan, Peter, Edmund and Lucy, who must team up with the powerful Aslan in order to defeat the vicious White Witch. Narnia showcases the power of love siblings have and the bond between them that can never be broken, no matter what. The movie franchise does a terrific job in adapting the classic novels, displaying it with various vibrant mythical creatures and the rich characters that C.S. Lewis constructed in his novels.
