CLASSICS
The Shining (1980) (RATE: 4.5 / 5)
Based on the brilliant novel by Stephen King, The Shining is a horror classic about a father becoming a winter caretaker of an isolated hotel along with his wife and troubled son. Whilst his writing career goes nowhere and his son’s psychic abilities become darkly intensified, his frightened wife grows to learn what her delusional husband has actually been doing, and what the dark hotel has been doing to him.

The Shining is a chilling, suspenseful and manic journey into madness and defies the line between what is real and what is not. With brilliant cinematography and an eerie plot, this 80’s film is a disturbing trip to paranoia and insanity. Must watch!

The Ring (2002) (RATE: 3.5 / 5)
An urban myth is tossed around about an old video tape with disturbing footage on it, and after watching, the viewer gets a phone call predicting their death in exactly 7 days. A newspaper reporter is skeptical to this legend, until 4 recent teenage deaths grab her attention. Investigating their random fatalities, she watches the footage herself and must solve this paranormal mystery in 7 days, before she becomes apart of the myth herself.

With a lot of creepy footage and a haunting sense of atmosphere, The Ring is the foundation for all paranormal films that truly gets under your skin. It contains chilling sound effects, discomforting visuals and an atmosphere of anxiousness - a tension perfect for Halloween!

Child’s Play (1988) (RATE: 3 / 5)
Where the Chucky franchise came to life, Child’s Play is a thrilling film about a mother giving her child a disturbing doll possessed by the soul of a serial killer. Overflowing with many slashing scenes and nightmarish tones, Child’s Play is the basis of all creepy doll films. As it is not a modern scary film, some may consider it a thriller due to its lack of actual horror, however, Chucky’s disturbing and horrifying doll face definitely increases the petrifying atmosphere!
