As we all know, living a student’s life isn’t as easy and relaxing as we once thought. There are  always tests, homework tasks and deadlines that we have to catch up with, leaving us with barely any time for ourselves. This then leads to further problems, such as a lack of exercise, social interaction and sleep. The key here for a healthier lifestyle is having good time management skills and reminding yourself about the important things you have to do in order to take care of your body.

Here are 10 tips to live a healthier lifestyle as students!

Create a checklist of things to complete.
Get a whiteboard and a marker and list down the things to do for today. Set out the time you plan to spend on each and follow it so you can still do other things later. The more you finish, the more you feel satisfied with every box you tick.

Finish your work now, reward yourself later.
Convince yourself that after working hard and finishing all your work for today, you will be able to do things you like for the rest of the day until bed time. This way, there’s nothing to cram and you can have a good night’s rest too.

Save at least 8 hours for sleep.
You probably think that this tip is silly or isn’t as important, but it actually is! Having enough sleep means that you’ll be more efficient during the day when doing school work either in class or at home because your mind is wide awake and not dozing off.

Don’t stress eat.
Instead, snack on something light and healthy while studying. This would also make it seem that doing homework isn’t that bad since you are eating something energising and yummy. It’s efficient: ‘feeding’ your brain and your body with the good stuff!

Write down deadlines on a big calendar on your work table.
This is to remind yourself for when your homeworks and IA’s are due in, so you won’t get in trouble with teachers by forgetting to do it! Set out important test dates and study hours to make sure that you stick to times of when to study what.

Clear your workspace!
Your workspace does affect how the mind works. If your desk is clean and neat, you will be able to use more space when working and studying, therefore making you able to think straight without any distractions. If your table is full of junk, trash and is messy, you will feel claustrophobic while working, and will easily find distractions around your table.

Set important reminders on your phone.
We all use our phones very frequently, so why not use the advantage of using reminders to tell you about the important work you have to do? Set reminders on your phone for specific times so that it would be a lot easier to remember the important tasks to do.

Leave time for exercise.
You need to be able to balance school work with physical activities. Make sure that you exercise at least three hours a week to maintain a  healthy body! Good exercise leads to better sleep too, which means better productivity the following day. If you’re not a big fan of really sweaty exercises, yoga or meditation is great to clear your head.

Drink lots of water.
Drinking eight glasses of water everyday will hydrate your body and also clear your skin. Water will make your body feel much more refreshed and prepared to do work. Because your body is made up of more than 60% water, it is vital for you to drink enough water each day.

Be around positive people.
These people encourage you and are willing to help you with work when you need it. They will help you adopt the right mindset, and make you a better person in general. They will make you a happier person, which is the most important thing a person needs for a healthy life.
